INDIANAPOLIS · POET · RECORDING ARTIST
JEFFERY LOUIS SMITH II
I create the stories we are often afraid to tell—the ones that live between heartbreak and healing, silence and honesty, who we were and who we are still becoming.

Becoming
Just Jeffery.
The name is not a character. It is what remained when I stopped performing every version of myself that other people expected.
Before there was a finished project, there was the need to say something honest. Writing became the place where emotions could exist without being edited, minimized, or explained away.
“The words arrived before I understood what they were building.”
Just Jeffery became the name for the most honest version of me: the poet, recording artist, writer, photographer, and storyteller willing to turn lived experience into something another person could recognize.
“I did not invent myself. I finally introduced myself.”
To Heal A Broken Heart brought fourteen poems together as seven paired tracks. Each chapter captures two sides of one emotional conversation—from heartbreak and dependence to accountability, solitude, and healing.
“The album tells you what I felt.”
To Heal A Broken Heart: A Conversation Between the Poems enters the memories behind the recordings. The book allows past and present versions of me to speak to each other without pretending healing followed a straight line.
“The book tells you why I felt it.”
Today, the story continues through music, writing, photography, physical editions, merchandise, and experiences designed to help people reflect, connect, and recognize their own capacity to heal.
“Healing is not the end of the story. It changes how the story is told.”

A NOTE FROM JUST JEFFERY
Before
you go—
Thank you for being here.
Every poem, recording, photograph, and page begins as something personal. Once I release it, the work no longer belongs only to me. It becomes part of every listener or reader who recognizes themselves inside it.
If my words have reminded you of something you survived, something you are still learning, or a version of yourself you are ready to understand differently, then the work has done what I hoped it would do.
Healing is not always graceful. It does not always happen in order, and it does not require us to erase the people we used to be. We can carry every version of ourselves forward without allowing the past to decide who we become.
Wherever you are in your own story, I hope you leave knowing that your feelings deserve language, your experiences deserve space, and you are never alone.
